I have just been diagnosed with a TIA. This is a really bad year for me. Does anyone know of any links between coeliac disease and stroke.

Very sorry to hear about your health problems, Mia. I have no experience of this but there is some discussion on coeliac.com

I have CD and Hashimotos, Cushing's disease, sarcoidosis, osteoporosis and hyperparathyroidism. I tested -ve for APS but it +ve for multi endocrine neoplasia. They think the TIAs are a result of the excess calcium due to the hyperparathyroidism. I just wondered if there was also a link to my CD

I think your best bet would be to ask the Stroke Association: stroke.org.uk/ as they're often doing research into strokes and TIAS. Generally multiple immune system problems will strain the body and therefore other problems can arise. As to whether they are linked - more research is often needed. This USA site which is very good cites some recent research which you may find handy: celiaccentral.org/research-... Hopefully if other members if they've had the same experience can add more. But do ask the Stroke experts.

Hi there, stroke is linked to lack of T3. T3 and T4 are hormones made by the thyroid. as in

hypo/hyper thyroid-autoimmune which is linked to celiac disease. if you have one auto-immune problem you are likely to have other`s. I have autoimmune thyroiditis , 1970`s

and possably RA mid 2000`s and now aged 65 celiac. or wheat intolerance. all so dermatitis. you can buy both T4 and T3 over the net. you may get tested for these by most GP`s don`t get trained in this area and help is hard to come by. i do may own research and take natural cures to keep well. GOOGLE stroke and T3 and you will find the file you need to print out for your doctor. don`t believe all the things your doctor says get another opinion

and be in charge of your own health. doctor`s lack info to help us all so they do harm without realising it. also the drug company`s are behind a lot of it they need to make a profit.

so doctors are not told about the many natural drugs /herbs and vitamins out their that have a good effect on the body. you don`t get sick because you lack antidepressants

in the body. hormones are needed by every cell in the body -their are 50 produced by the Adrenals and the thyroid as 4 ,. so as i say do the research and stay well.

Also in some cases people can have Hughes Syndrome, thyroid issues often go with this, plus also sjogrens disease. Hope this helps. Mary F x
